Summer School Intensive 2020
July 6 – 24

Each year at La Sylphide Summer Intensive School, world-renowned teachers and choreographers provide students with unforgettable experiences that help them come into direct contact with the world of international dance and learn (or improve) in different dance styles.

In 2020, in exceptional conditions, we will organize 3 weeks of online dance Summer Intensive in the studio with the invited elite teachers

We will have 3 age groups as follows:

  • Age 1 – 8 – 10 years
  • Age 2 – 11 – 12 years
  • Age 3 – 13 – 15 years

The intensive program for three weeks includes:

For Age 1 (special program created this year for children):

  • Ballet, Modern Dance, Repertoire, Acting, Gymnastics, Acro dance, Contemporary Dance, Choreographic / Improvisation

For Age 2 and 3

  • Barre au floor, Ballet, Repertoire, Pointe, Special pirouette lessons, Character dance, Contemporary dance, Dance history, Jazz, Forsythe technique

You can benefit from the whole period or you can enroll in the partial programs First term (6 – 15 July 2020) or Second term (16 – 24 July). There is also the possibility of private lessons with La Sylphide Ballet School teachers and guest teachers

Guest Teachers

Steffi Scherzer – Switzerland

Ballet technique, pointe

Mrs Scherzer has made guest appearances around the world, and has worked with many of the most renowned choreographers such as Rudolf Nurejev, Patrice Bart, Maurice Béjart, William Forsythe, Pierre Lacotte, Roland Petit, and Uwe Scholz.
She is an honorary member of the German State Opera Berlin and is one of Germany’s most outstanding classical dancers.
Steffi’s students have achieved top places and won many prizes at national and international competitions.

Tatiana Solomianko – Russia

Ballet technique, pointe and repertoire

Graduated student at the Academy of Russian ballet A.Vaganova. Former soloist at the Mariinsky Theatre. Licensed pedagog at the Academy of Russian ballet A.Vaganova. Currently teacher the Academy of Russian ballet A.Vaganova

Dollie Henry – United Kingdom

Jazz

Internationally renowned and respected jazz choreographer, theatre director and educationalist, Mrs Henry is recognised as one of the most formidable exponents of jazz dance and theatre dance in the UK and abroad. Dollie’s extensive career as a perfomer, director and choreographer has seen her work in all areas of the entertainment industry of dance and musical theatre, film and TV.
She is the founder and Artistic Director/Choreographer of the UK’s premier jazz theatre company, Body of People (BOP). BOP has produced and created many jazz theatre productions, performing throughout the UK and internationally. BOP is also the professional Company-in-Residence at Morley College, London. Dollie is a regular guest jazz teacher at Broadway Dance Center, New York.

Denis Medvedev – Russia

Ballet technique and repertoire

Graduated from the Moscow Ballet Academy, then completed his studies at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography). After graduation in 1994 he joined the Bolshoi Ballet where he was very fast promoted as soloist and danced leading roles in all classical ballets.
Laureate of the 3rd prize at the Arabesque Open Competition for Russian Ballet Dancers, in Perm (1996), Grand Prix at the «Luxembourg Prize» International competition (1997). Got the Certificate of Merit from the President of Mari El Republic for participation in the traditional «Winter Evenings» festival on the stage of the Eric Sapaev Mari State Opera and Ballet theater (1999). In 2011 was awarded with the Certificate of Merit by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation «for the great contribution into the development of Russian culture».

Cris Penfold – United Kingdom

Jazz

Graduated student at the London Studio Centre, Mr. Penfold performed an various stages in UK – Royal Albert Hall, Voudeville Theatre, Kilworth House theatre, Queen’s Theatre, London Coliseum, etc. He was also featured in movies as: “The Spanish Princess, Allied, Hugo, Muppets most wanted, Great expectations and various commercials and music videos.
As well as performing, Cris is also teaching jazz and tap classes for London Studio Centre, Central School of Speech & Drama and guest teaches at various other venues nationally and internationally.

Alexander Mishutin – Russia

Ballet technique, pointe and repertoire

Graduated student at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy Moskow. Artistic director of the International Dance School, Tokyo, Japan, former soloist at the Kremlin Ballet Moskow, Russian Imperial Ballet Moscow, Moscow Academic Musical Theatre and former Principal with the NBA Ballet Company Tokyo. As choreographer he created: Four seasons and Les Millions d’Harlequin for the Tbilisi Ballet Georgia, Cleopatra for the NBA Ballet Company Tokyo, etc.

Massimo Perugini – Italy

Contemporary dance

Artistic Director for academy of the MAS in Milan, Artistic Director of the dancers performing STEALM, Lecturer at CDT contemporary dance theater and TAP WALL
Teacher and Choreographer international contemporary dance , theater, dance, improvisation kontakt , floor work, partnering. It runs fast professional studies in most styles of dance. He worked with various companies for choreographic projects in Italy and abroad as Euroballetto , Indepdi , Momboye Company , Company Le Blanc Akram Khan company, Ultima Vez Wim Vandekeybus and many others. Has Teamed for various projects with theaters such as the Stadttheater in Graz Austria , Germany Stadttheater Giessen , Stadttheater Frankfurt Germany, Belgium etc. Arcatheater .
Guest teacher of contemporary in many academic centers in Italy and in Europe.

Kahli Lewis

Choreographer, Dance Teacher (Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Musical Theatre, Tap, ISTD examinations), Director, Assessor and Adjudicator

Owner and Principal at Kahli Lewis Dance Company

Born in Banbury, Oxfordshire Mrs Lewis has 20 years’ experience in directing, choreographing and teaching at all levels. She is fully qualified in ISTD Imperial Ballet, Modern and Tap and  very experienced and qualified in teaching Contemporary specialising in Release, Tzubai & Graham techniques.

Kahli is  an experienced musical theatre choreographer and teacher as well as an ABRSM singing teacher. Her key skills lie in choreography and teaching all genres at a high level. She can nurture, encourage and develop the students and build a strong rapport based upon hard work and respect which helps them to achieve to the best of their ability. Since September 2016 Kahli is Ballet & Contemporary Tutor at Bird College of Performing Arts, Sidcup, Kent, Responsible for teaching ballet and contemporary for the full-time courses, devise and teach assessment work and choreograph for shows.

As Dance Adjudicator has judged for the DWC in South Africa, Sitges (DWC Finals)and Burgos in Spain for the 2019 heats and she also been invited to Judge for the World Dance Challenge in Portugal 2020.
